I’m Stoked!
Yes, I am excited. That’s what ‘stoked’ means, for those of you who are not totally down with my hip lingo.
The reason? My favorite book series is coming to the big screen. I am a huge fan of The Chronicles of Narnia, by C.S. Lewis. If you haven’t ever read them, I recommend them beyond words. You don’t even need to buy them, either, as you can borrow them from any local library. The first book is absolutely a must-read. It is called The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.
In summary, it is an amazing fantasy in which kids discover a magic wardrobe which is the entry to another world, the land of Narnia. There, they have all kinds of exciting adventures.
I am so stoked because on December 9 – I can’t wait – the movie will be released in theaters.
I have seen the movie trailers, and they are awesome. Here is the one for the movie itself (where you can either view or download the trailer) - The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe Trailer
But, there is an amazing second trailer that I want to share with you - and what is so cool about this second trailer is that it illustrates how the special effects for this movie are being done by Wetta Studios – YES! – the same folks who did all of the effects for the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. How cool is that! View it by clicking here - Wetta Studios Trailer
If you want to let me know what you think of all of this, shoot me a quick email, especially if you are as stoked as I am.
One last request - please pray. The Chronicles of Narnia are all books with strong Christian imagery and great insight into human nature. Aslan, the Lion, is a Christ-figure. If the Narnia movies end up as successful at reaching as many people as the Lord of the RingsTrilogy, then millions of people just might reevaluate their relationships with God - and some folks might reconsider the value of Christianity. And, if those things happen, God will be stoked!
