Passion Youth Minister's Retreat

Now that Advent has begun and you are busy preparing for Christmas, you are probably wishing that you had time to relax. Well, we can't promise that you'll get it right now, but we hope that you do take time to pray each day and reflect on the coming of our Savior.

We can, however, promise you time to renew yourself in February. If you are a youth minister, core member or volunteer who needs some time to refresh and get away, join the Office of Youth Ministry for our winter retreat. The retreat is from February 15-17, 2008 at the Catholic Camps of America in Dutzow, MO. Spouses are welcome to come as well! Registration is now open!

Bob Rice, a professor of catechetics at Franciscan University in Steubenville will give us conferences on how to walk with Christ.

Gather your friends to enjoy a fun and relaxing over night retreat this summer! This retreat will be a time to take a break for a couple days: to have fun, meet new people, think about your life and your spirituality.

This retreat will be held at the Marianist Retreat and Conference Center in Wildwood, MO (near Hidden Valley Ski Resort). It is an overnight event starting at 10 am Wednesday, July 19 and ending at 3 pm on Thursday, July 20, 2006. Our theme is One Body: One Spirit, and we have tons of games, discussions, indoor and outdoor activities, prayer time, and free time planned to make for a relaxing and enlightening couple days. This new retreat is for young people from in-coming Freshmen through Seniors of any high school or home school.

COST: $100 (includes activities, meals, snacks, and overnight accommodations. If financial need is an obstacle to your attending, please contact us. If your family is able to give more, it would help others to attend.)

“Unravel” a retreat for those who work in youth ministry, will be held in January.

Sponsored by the archdiocesan Office of Youth Ministry, the retreat will take place Friday-Sunday, Jan. 14-16, at Catholic Camps of America, 166 Highway TT in Dutzow.

The retreat is open to youth ministers, core members, volunteers, campus ministers and anyone who works with young people, said Sister M. Consolata Crews, FSGM, acting director of the Youth Ministry Office.

“We wanted to provide an opportunity for people who work with youth to refresh themselves in the Lord — pray, relax, grow in fellowship,” she said.

The retreat will be led by St. Paul’s Outreach, a retreat ministry from St. Paul, Minn. There also will be several speakers and time for prayer, eucharistic adoration and the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Auxiliary Bishop Robert J. Hermann will be the main celebrant at a Mass on Sunday.

“Our goal is for youth ministers to meet the Lord and rejuvenate their own faith — so they can continue to minister to the people they serve each day,” said Sister Consolata. “And it’s a way to say thank you to them.” The cost of the retreat is $160, which includes food and lodging for the weekend. The deadline for registration is Friday, Dec. 10.
